On MSNBC, Rick Stengel slams Trump’s reliance on Fox & Friends for information over the intelligence community

RICK STENGEL: This was an extraordinary admission of ignorance, about the single most important job that the president of the United States has -- to protect the security of every American. Even Donald Trump has recognized that as the number one job of the president.

You cannot protect the security of Americans without understanding the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act and the 702 Amendment to that act.

He has been in office a year. I was absolutely dumbfounded that he had no idea what FISA was, and 702 was. As various people have pointed out, the president's daily brief every day is filled with information from 702 and FISA. The fact that he didn't know what that is questions the very core of his ability to do the job.

STENGEL: President Trump thinks that intelligence comes from Fox & Friends. He obviously trusts that, more than what he gets from the intelligence officers.
